also come into their own going down the River Jizera in spring or paragliding or hang-gliding from the slopes of Lysá Mountain. Sports enthusiasts can use the tennis and volleyball courts, the grass football pitch, the skittle alley, the bowling centre, a sports hall, a sauna and a fitness centre.

There are dozens of ski tows on the ridges of the surrounding hills, as well as a four-seater chairlift on Lysá Mountain that is 2197 metres long. The local downhill runs are among the best and longest in the country and are artificially covered with snow. There is a snowpark with its own tow for snowboarders, whilst passionate skiers can also ski at night. It is also a great area for cross-country skiing.

Treated crosscountry tracks are found close to the centre of the town (by the chapel, around Strážník rock) and at higher positions around Studenov or Dvoračky. The tracks link up to the “Krkonoše Mountain Cross-country Ski Trail”, which interweaves the entire Krkonoše Mountains – more than 500 km of treated tracks.

They also join on to the Jizera Mountain Cross-country Tracks, which offer another 115 km of treated trails.
